The
complete kit provides a pair of sterile medical gloves
and 2 DNA collection swabs to collect the DNA from your
dog. The collection tubes must then be returned by mail
to our lab for DNA processing. A return addressed
envelope is provided in the kit.
Once the DNA is
processed you will be notified by email that your online
account is ready.
You will then need to
login to your account using the DOGdex ID number and the
temporary password we provide. You can upload photos for
the ID and request that a laminated ID card be mailed to
you.
The cost
includes the DNA processing fees, lifetime* online access
to the DOGdex Database and tools to update, photos,
addresses and ownership information as well as one
printed laminated ID card.
Additional cards can
be purchased or printed online when information is
changed. Of course, the ID DNA information will never
change and is certified for life, but owners addresses
and contact information will need to be updated
immediately when changed.
The printed ID cards only display the owners names and address,
all phone, email and other contact details are stored
securely online and can be accesses using the DOGdex ID
number and passcode on each card.
When a dog is lost and
found by a shelter, the shelter will send us DNA sample
which we can process and match to your dog. At that time
all of the information available in the account will be
provided to the shelter to return the dog to the owner.
By ordering the kit
you agree to all the terms
and conditions of the
DOGdex ID program.
Notes:
Transferability -
DOGdex IDs are fully transferable to new owners,
caretakers or families in possession of the tested dog.
In the case of municipal certified IDs that process is
governed by the municipality but access to the ID and
ownership data can be exchanged using the online tools.
Transferring IDs outside a given municipality is done at
the discression of the municipality and is not the
decision of DOGdex.
Lifetime* - Refers to
the lifetime of the dog and not the owners lifetime. That
term will not exceed 20 years may be subject to continued
municipal registration. If dogs licenses are not
maintained with your municipality the the dog may be
presumed deceased or with a new owner that has chosen not
to participate in the DOGdex ID program. Inactive
accounts will not be maintained for a period exceeding 10
years.
